Be a Published Author

Did you know… 81% of people want to write a book.

Most don’t!

You have a book within you. So do I. Why don’t most of us get it out?

With a book in today’s age, your status as an influencer skyrockets. So why doesn’t everyone write a book?

Writing a book like a long-term committed relationship – The odds against finishing a book are high!

Do you know how long it takes to write a book? Time is (usually) counted in years.

National Novel Writing Month, also known as NaNoWriMo is a month-long creative writing challenge that takes place every November. During the month, participants from all over the world are challenged to write a 50,000-word first draft of a novel.

70,000-120,000 words are the average in a book. But there is more to writing a book than getting words down. Are you ready for a long-term commitment?

Many people don’t write a book because it’s extremely hard. Forcing yourself to sit down, the subject, the voice, the inspiration or goal, brainstorm, write, edit, rewrite, edit, cut, add, rewrite, workshop, rewrite, and rewrite some more until you’ve got somewhere between 50,000 and 120,000 words is grueling work.

This Building-Your-Brand group is here to help you in many different and varied ways.  As we grow together, we expect to be publishing mini-books and group books. This group of related topics is called an anthology. We can make a journey that looks like huge, mammoth, extensive steps into an exciting experiment of bite-sized pieces. Baby steps towards achieving outstanding goals.

Going through the steps with others makes your journey to your personal goals smoother – with much higher success. You also have the keys to helping others with their goals.

Anthologies are a stepping stone to becoming a published author.

Do you have an idea you want to share with others? Or maybe you have a message that you are burning in your heart, and you’ve got to share it? Maybe you have a life experience or a story you want others to know. Or maybe you just want to express yourself?

All of these are powerful reasons to start writing. But on what platform? How does one move from scribbling thoughts in a journal to get their ideas into the world? A book is still one of the best mediums to share your message. Yet, for many, the process of writing a whole book feels daunting.

An anthology could be the best of both worlds.  Anthologies are collections of chapters, poetry, short stories, etc., that authors submit to an editor or publisher for inclusion – In this case, Building Your Brand might be the “publisher” (while we also share ways on how you could be your own publisher.)  The compilation is typically centered around a theme, topic, genre, or type of author.

Here are some benefits to participating in an anthology:

  • It’s less overwhelming. Writing a chapter for an anthology means you do not have to write a full manuscript – instead, you’re writing one chapter of about  2,500 words or more.  2500 words is 5 pages single spaced or 10 pages double spaced.
  • An anthology can be a powerful marketing tool. It offers great branding, expands your influence, and increases your visibility as an expert for entrepreneurs. Co-authors can get increased publicity every time the other contributors promote the book.
  • You can narrow your focus to the writing. Baby steps to writing your own book.
  • It has a lower investment point for participation – in time and in money.
  • You get more support. It can be a lonely journey while writing and publishing a book.  As you write your story, numerous questions arise on how to present it for yourself and the reader powerfully. Fear, blocks, and doubt sometimes show up as you do something new. This is when you need the support of a coach. Our passion is to offer you individualized support, encouragement, and help to produce your powerful chapter so you can shine and empower others.

There are benefits of contributing to a collaborative effort. This is one idea. What other ideas do you have to help you achieve your goals?
